OnePlus and Mclaren unveil a new smartphone

A couple of weeks ago auto maker Mclaren announced a partnership with the phone maker OnePlus and go the tech community really excited. So excited, I wrote an article about it where I shared my hopes and assumptions for what this partnership could mean for the OnePlus smartphones. Fast forward a while the fruits of that partnership have come to fruition in the form of the new OnePlus 6T Mclaren Edition.

The new OnePlus 6T Mclaren Edition is the latest in the line of impressive smartphones made by this tech startup but the phone is not entirely new because almost all of the specs of the previous 6T are on this one but that does not mean the phone is not worth the hype, on the contrary, the additions made on the phone are what make it stand out and they are no small fete.

With the new phone OnePlus is pushing the limits of speed and power and they have given the phone 10GB of RAM alongside 256GB of internal memory. They have also fitted the phone with something called Warp charging which they claim has the ability to charge the phone up to 50% in just 20 minutes. That 50% battery power is also claimed to be able to last you a day without the need for a recharge.

That is not all, because of Mclaren’s expertise with carbon fiber, they have wrapped the phone in a carbon fiber designed casing that both looks good and makes the phone sturdy enough, all at the cost of $700.

This phone is a testament to the lengths OnePlus is willing to go to produce a high level smartphone while keeping the price in a reasonable range. It also foretells of the good things that are yet to come from this partnership and others just like it.
